Pacific College Offers Giovanni Maciocia CEU Courses

Pacific College of Oriental Medicine will be offering lectures by Giovanni Maciocia. Each lecture is considered a Continuing Education Unit Event (CEU event) for those that are in the Oriental medicine field, including those seeking acupuncture CEUs. His knowledge is invaluable, and these events are considered optimum opportunities for growth in the field. In San Diego from February 23rd through the 24th, Giovanni will be presenting his first in a series of CEU’s, with two talks titled The Channel System and Clinical Applications Utilizing Channels.

Focus on Extraordinary Vessels and Secondary Channels

In Chicago on March 15-16, Giovanni will be giving two presentations, The Extraordinary Vessels, and Secondary Channels. The first of these talks will focus on the eight extraordinary vessels that are a component of the channel system of acupuncture. The Secondary Channels presentation focuses on the Divergent channels, the Muscle channels, and the Connecting channels

Delving into the Psyche and Emotional Disorders in Chinese Medicine

In Los Angeles on April 12-13th, 2008, a two-part CEU will take place: the first part is The Psyche in Chinese Medicine: Treatment of Mental-Emotional Disorders, and the second is called The Extraordinary Meridians. This same presentation will also be given in New York from May 17-18, 2008. The first event concerning the psyche will explore the nature and functions of the Shen, Hun, Po, Yi, and Zhi in Chinese medicine. Emotions and their connection to the psyche will be evaluated. The workshop will also present the etiology, pathology, and treatment of depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

Unique Workshops on Dampness, Phlegm, and Tongue Diagnosis

Giovanni’s final CAU that will be offered in 2008 will occur in San Francisco on June seventh and eighth. This CAU is titled Swamplands of the Body: The Pathology and Treatment of Dampness and Phlegm. The impact of Western lifestyle on the body and its relation to dampness and phlegm will be discussed. The pathologies of both will be presented and an overview of the qi’s movement in the Triple Burner will be given. As a bonus, this workshop will also include Giovanni’s highly regarded lessons on tongue diagnosis, focusing on signs of dampness, phlegm, and blood stasis.

Giovanni Maciocia is one of the most highly respected practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Europe. Originally from a medical family in Italy, he trained in England at the International College of Oriental medicine and graduated in 1974 after a three-year course. He has been in practice ever since.

In 1980, 1982, and 1987, he attended three postgraduate courses in acupuncture at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Giovanni can read Chinese writing and therefore has access to all the Chinese medicine textbooks, old and modern, published in China. Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and Giovanni Maciocia combine forces to enlighten practitioners and acupuncturists across the nation.
