Boccino, Joan, MS, LAc

Dr. Joan Boccino is a graduate of Pacific College of Health and Science in New York City, where she currently serves as professor in the department of Science and Clinical Practice. She has maintained a private practice in Manhattan since 1997. Her post graduate studies have included work at the Shanghai College of TCM/Yue Yang Integrative Medicine Hospital and continuing education coursework with Jeffrey Yuen. She was the first non-MD acupuncturist to work at Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Integrative Medicine Department where she developed clinical trial protocols and worked in direct patient care.

Besides teaching at Pacific College, Joan has been committed to increasing access to Chinese medicine treatment domestically and worldwide and is the Founder and Project Director of the Barbara Ford Peace Center’ s Integrative Health Project, located in Quiche, Guatemala. She also serves on the research committee of the National Acupuncture Detox Association and on the advisory board of the BioAndes NGO, based in Huallanca, Peru. Joan enjoys cooking and blogs about food and Chinese Medicine at Five Flavors Kitchen (food.herbsandhealing.com).
