In a recent Massage Magazine article, Jonny Pietrunti, LMT, CSCS, Pacific College of Health and Science – New York’s Director of Clinical Services, was interviewed on sports massage. Pietrunti explains the benefits of sports massage and how it works:
“Due to the repetitive nature of some sports, many of my clients develop limitations in range of motion,” says Pietrunti. “While a certain amount of ‘function tightness’ is important for athletes, excessive limitation in ROM [range of motion] and simple aches and pains from repetitive use can be problematic, and sports massage can help with that.”
He goes on to cover common techniques in this growing discipline, how client intake for sports medicine patients varies from the standard procedure, and how he entered the field. To find out more, including additional training, certifications, and modalities to consider when specializing in sports medicine, read on at MassageMag.org!
