PCOM Loves New York – Treating Our Heroes at the Tunnel to Towers 5k

Community involvement and outreach are an integral part of the PCOM experience; another reason students choose to study Oriental medicine at Pacific College.

Last Sunday, more than 20 interns and faculty members from Pacific College, New York had the honor of volunteering services to those who put their lives on the line for all of us, performing 334 treatments at the Tunnel to Towers 5k Run in New York City.

More than 190 massage and 140 acupuncture treatments were offered at the finish line by 21 rotating interns and two supervisors, according to Cynthia Neipris, Director of Outreach, PCOM-NY.

“I felt proud to be representing PCOM at this event that was a tribute to those who gave their lives in 9-11 rescue efforts,” Neipris said.

Pacific College has participated in the Tunnel to Towers Run since 2008, performing more than 1,200 acupuncture and massage treatments in honor of 9/11 first responders, survivors, families and supporters.
