Kat (Heagberg) Rebar (eRYT-500) (she/they) has been teaching yoga regularly since 2005. Kat is the former editor in chief of Yoga International, co-author of Yoga Where You Are with Dianne Bondy (Shambhala, 2020), and co-editor of Embodied Resilience Through Yoga: 30 Mindful Essays About Finding Empowerment After Addiction, Trauma, Grief, and Loss (Llewellyn, 2020). Her latest book, which is about making yoga inversions accessible for all bodies, will be published by Shambhala Publications in 2023. Kat has training in many different yoga schools and styles including alignment-based traditions, vinyasa yoga, and prenatal and postpartum practices. Kat also spent several years living, working, and teaching at a yoga ashram where, in addition to asana, she studied Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Tantric and Classical yoga philosophy, and yogic meditation. Kat also has extensive training in dance, group fitness, and personal training and co-hosts the yoga true crime podcast Darkside of the Mat with Justine Mastine. Kat lives in Los Angeles with her spouse, Kyle, and together in their free time, they enjoy doing improv comedy and hosting pop-up yoga and music events in unexpected places!
