Pacific College Job Announcement – FWS Simulation and Skills Lab Assistant – New York Campus

Pacific College of Health and Science is hiring for the Federal Work Study (FWS) position of Simulation and Skills Lab Assistant in the PBSN program at our New York campus.

General Job Summary: The Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab is seeking motivated and responsible students to serve as Simulation and Skills Lab Assistants. This position provides students with an opportunity to gain exposure to simulation operations, lab management, and experiential learning environments while supporting the day-to-day activities of the Nursing Skills and Simulation Department

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty and staff with preparing skills and simulation labs for scheduled learning experiences.
  • Set up task trainers, manikins, equipment, supplies, and laboratory stations according to established guidelines.
  • Assist with restocking supplies, organizing inventory, and maintaining lab cleanliness and readiness.
  • Support simulation logistics including room turnover, equipment checks, and resetting simulation spaces between activities.
  • Organize and store lab equipment, consumable supplies, and educational materials.
  • Assist with assembling simulation packets, labels, checklists, and other operational materials.
  • Conduct routine checks of equipment and notify faculty or staff of missing, damaged, or malfunctioning items.
  • Support special events, open houses, simulation demonstrations, and departmental activities as assigned.
  • Perform other simulation and laboratory support duties under the supervision of the Skills and Simulation faculty and staff.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • Current PCHS students enrolled in any program. In good academic standing at the time of employment.
  • No prior history of academic probation or code of conduct violations.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently once trained.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport lab supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain SAP and enrollment requirements.
  • Maintain good behavioral standards and code of conduct
  • Report to work as scheduled, accurately record hours worked, and submit timesheets by established deadlines.
  • Follow institutional policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Notify supervisors of schedule changes.
  • Prioritize academic responsibilities.
  • Maintain records confidentiality

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical healthcare lab environment. Able to work sitting or standing with mild-moderate lifting of lab/simulation equipment and/or boxes.

Rate of Pay: $17.00 per hour
