Pacific College of Health and Science is hiring for the Federal Work Study (FWS) position of Herbal Dispensary Assistant at our New York campus.
General Job Summary:
The Herbal Dispensary Assistant is responsible for supporting the operation and management of the dispensary under the guidance and supervision of the Chair of the Herbology Department. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, particularly in maintaining up-to-date inventory records and ensuring the efficient functioning of the dispensary. The Herbal Dispensary Assistant also serves as a student liaison and should be willing to assist the college in a professional and positive manner.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Represent the college positively and demonstrate appreciation for their program of study.
- Maintain the smooth operation of dispensary activities within the clinic.
- Regularly inspect the dispensary, clean work surfaces, sweep floors as needed, and monitor inventory levels to determine when restocking is required.
- Follow established inventory procedures and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
- Update the inventory spreadsheet weekly and submit supply order requests to the Herbology Department Chair.
- Communicate regularly with the Herbology Department Chair, remain available for meetings as requested, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- Must be eligible for and maintain participation in the Federal Work-Study Program.
- Must be enrolled in an herbal medicine program, such as:

- Master of Science in Acupuncture with Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization (MSAcCHM)
- Doctor of Acupuncture with Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization (DAcCHM)
- Certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine (CCHM)
- Demonstrated interest in Chinese herbology, with a passion for the field and a commitment to supporting others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively assist students with general questions and demonstrate or explain formula preparation procedures in the dispensary.
- Ability to stay informed about and communicate updates related to dispensary operations and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to complete tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain an orderly dispensary environment and lift boxes for inventory management and restocking purposes.
- Willingness to learn from others and apply feedback constructively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team while fostering a respectful and professional work environment.
- Maintain SAP and enrollment requirements.
- Maintain good behavioral standards and code of conduct

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
Rate of Pay: $17.00 per hour
