Pacific College of Health and Science is hiring for the Federal Work Study (FWS) position of Library Assistant at our Chicago campus.
General Job Summary:
Library Assistant staff the circulation desk and have tasks throughout the library. They are responsible for ensuring the seamless transaction of library materials and helping patrons use library resources.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Helps patrons manage check-out, renew, return, and hold materials.
- Re-shelves materials are in their proper place.
- Organizes and maintains theย libraryโs collection.
- Assists patrons in identifying and locating materials in the collection. This may involve instructing patrons on how to use our online catalog.
- Assists patrons with computers, printers, copiers and otherย library
- Enforcesย library
- Assists the librarian as needed.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to learn how to arrange, find, and shelve library items using the Library of Congress classification system.
- Must have the computer skills needed to use library computer systems and databases.
- Maintain SAP and enrollment requirements.
- Maintain good behavioral standards and code of conduct
- Report to work as scheduled, accurately record hours worked, and submit timesheets by established deadlines.
- Follow institutional policies and procedures.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Notify supervisors of schedule changes.
- Prioritize academic responsibilities.
- Maintain records confidentiality
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
Rate of Pay: $17.05 per hour
