Pacific College Job Announcement – Director, Skills Lab Operations – New York Campus

Pacific College of Health and Science is seeking a strategic and operational leader for the position of Director of Skills Lab Operations at our New York campus.ย  The Director of Skills Lab Operations is responsible for all nursing skills lab activities, ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality skills lab experiences that support student learning, faculty success, and program outcomes.

General Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the skills labs, including faculty and lab scheduling accountability & coverage needs, skills lab logistics, student attendance and professionalism processes, remediation coordination, lab make-up management, policy compliance, and operational efficiency. This is a full-time, primarily on-ground position requiring regular presence at the New York campus and may include occasional evening or weekend hours with a remote day based on the operational needs of the skills labs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Skills Lab Operations

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Skills Lab.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize workflows, processes, and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure lab activities align with program outcomes, institutional policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate lab scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to address operational needs, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide instructional coverage for Skills Lab experiences as operational needs require.
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to independently prioritize and lead operational and strategic initiatives.

Faculty Leadership & Supervision:

  • Supervise, support, and evaluate Skills Lab faculty and staff.
  • Coordinate faculty coverage and monitor accountability, performance, and adherence to departmental expectations.
  • Facilitate faculty onboarding, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
  • Promote consistency in instruction through standardized teaching practices and inter-rater reliability initiatives.

Student Operations:

  • Oversee student attendance, professionalism, remediation, and laboratory participation.
  • Manage the laboratory make-up process, including approvals, scheduling, documentation, and tracking.
  • Ensure timely communication and accurate documentation related to student compliance and laboratory requirements.

Policy & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and laboratory procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies, best practices, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Resource & Operational Management:

  • Oversee laboratory equipment, supplies, inventory, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate laboratory preparation, maintenance, shared resources, and budget planning to support instructional needs.

Collaboration:

  • Serve as the operational leader for the Skills Lab, partnering with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Lab & Simulation to align laboratory and simulation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, course coordinators, academic operations, and institutional departments to support student success, operational excellence, and continuous program improvement.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Minimum Qualifications Required
  • Masterโ€™s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of three (2) years of experience in nursing education or skills laboratory instruction.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and operational management experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple priorities within an academic environment.

Preferred:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience with competency-based education.
  • Experience developing policies, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supervising faculty and managing operational processes within higher education.

Salary Expectations: $120,000.00 – $125,000.00 annually.
