Pacific College of Health and Science

Deeply rooted in Chinese medicine since 1986, and still the largest school of Chinese medicine in the US, Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, or PCOM) is Pacific Symposium’s founder and main sponsor. In the past few years, the College has expanded to offer other holistic health certificates and integrative medicine degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate levels.

At Pacific College (PCHS), licensed acupuncturists can also find advanced courses and certificates conveniently offered online, or at one of our beautiful campuses in San Diego, New York and Chicago:

Since our inception, the Pacific College community has believed that health is more than the absence of disease. Health must include the balance of the mind, body, and spirit. Like you, Pacific College views medicine as preventative, holistic, and patient-centered. Today, Pacific College is the established leader of acupuncture and East Asian medicine education in the United States. As such, we are now actively championing the expansion of these principles to other healthcare disciplines, such as with Pacific College’s holistic nursing programs. With this ongoing expansion of the original vision, three strong pillars have emerged:

EDUCATION

The college continues to expand its vision of standing as the “recognized leader in delivering traditional medicine and integrative health science education to practitioners and the public”. Beyond its existing medical cannabis certificate, massage therapy programs, and acupuncture and Chinese medicine programs, PCHS is expanding its holistic nursing division and gearing up to launch a new groundbreaking undergraduate program in 2024. Stay tuned for more on this soon!

COMMUNITY

We believe in fostering a strong culture of loving kindness and community support, with benefits and resources that reflect our body/mind/spirit values. As PCHS continues to grow, we now have faculty and staff in 27 states! We stream the yearly Pacific Symposium and other online events around the world. Recently, we also expanded alumni services with the Pacific College Alumni Network (PCAN) platform; are currently adding new courses to our continuing education catalog, the Pacific Center for Lifelong Learning; founded a dedicated EDI Committee; and expanded local Student Council activities.

WELLNESS CLINICS

The three Pacific College clinics currently treat over 50,000 patients a year and have an extensive network of offsite clinic opportunities, from the University of California – San Diego Heath Center to the New York Harm Reduction Clinic. In 2022, we brought electronic health records into the campus clinics. In 2023, we will continue to develop the clinics into multidisciplinary wellness centers and lay the groundwork for the incorporation of holistic nurses to the clinic teams.

As a community, we view each of these three pillars as equally important and strive to achieve balance between them.

We are looking forward to continue serving you for the next forty years!
