Dr. Leng Tang-Ritchie’s article “How Traditional Chinese Medicine Manages Anxiety & Stress” was recently published by Face the Current, an award-winning holistic lifestyle magazine. Tang-Ritchie is the Vice President of Clinical Education and Operations at Pacific College of Health and Science.  She discussed the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had upon our long-term mental and physical stress responses, and how the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) approaches these issues.

The licensed TCM practitioner or acupuncturist identifies imbalances in the connections between organs and emotions through a series of questions to the patient, tongue and pulse examination, and other methods, then designs a personalized treatment plan to resolve these imbalances through acupuncture, herbs, and general lifestyle advice. Tang-Ritchie discusses how each of these aspects of the plan function, as well as how often treatment sessions may be required, and recommends regular meditation practice.
