Course Description

Sports Pathology and Massage expands on the techniques developed in Swedish massage and the knowledge of the muscular skeletal system to evaluate and treat athletes and sports injuries.  In this course the student will learn sport specific techniques in order to treat athletes in all areas of their training and competition including pre-competition, post-competition, injury both in season and off-season and more.  Students will perform posture analysis, evaluate joint mobility, determine abnormalities in joints and learn how to execute orthopedic tests used for evaluation.  At the conclusion of the course the student will be able to assess an athlete and perform a treatment protocol to assist the athlete by maintaining function and enhancing performance of the athlete.
