Pacific College of Health and Science is seeking a dynamic Director of Admissions for our Nursing programs or at our New York campus. This position is hybrid, with at least 3 days per week required at the New York campus with occasional weekend, evening hours required.
Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing Admissions leads the recruitment, application, and enrollment operations for the pre-licensure BSN and Holistic Nursing Certificate Programs. This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of admissions counselors and call center staff, while ensuring a student-centered journey from initial inquiry through matriculation. The Director partners closely with student advising, financial aid, the registrar, and academic leadership to streamline the enrollment process and ensure prospective students are set up for success from their first contact with the institution.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can coach and develop a team, think strategically about enrollment funnels and conversion, and roll up their sleeves to solve process gaps that span multiple departments.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop admissions counselors, call center representatives, and admissions coordinators.
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs (e.g., inquiry-to-application conversion, application-to-enrollment yield, call response times, TEAS scheduling turnaround); monitor and coach to those metrics.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, team meetings, and performance reviews; build a culture of accountability, empathy, and service excellence.
- Manage staffing levels and scheduling across admissions, call center, and testing functions to meet seasonal enrollment demand.
Enrollment Process & Student Experience
- Own the end-to-end admissions funnel for the pre-licensure nursing program, from first inquiry through program start.
- Ensure counselors are equipped to clearly communicate program requirements, prerequisites, TEAS testing expectations, clinical requirements, and timelines to prospective students.
- Personally engage with prospective students on complex, sensitive, or escalated cases (e.g., transfer credit questions, prerequisite deficiencies, appeals).
- Continuously evaluate and refine the enrollment journey to reduce bottle necks and pain points, improving the applicant experience.
TEAS Testing Oversight
- Oversee scheduling, proctoring, and administration of the TEAS exam in compliance with ATI and institutional policies.
- Ensure testing accommodations, retake policies, and score reporting are handled accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain proctor training and certification to uphold test security and integrity.
External Recruitment/Partnership Development
- Develop and manage articulation and transfer partnerships with CUNY community colleges to create clear, well-communicated pathways for associate-degree and pre-nursing students into the BSN program.
- Represent the college at CUNY transfer fairs, advisement events, and info sessions; serve as the primary point of contact for CUNY advising staff on transfer requirements and application processes
- Cultivate relationships with healthcare partners (hospitals, health systems, clinical sites) to identify pipeline opportunities such as employee tuition benefits programs, CNA/LPN pathways, etc.
Data, Reporting & Compliance
- Track and report on admissions funnel metrics, call center performance, and testing to senior leadership.
- Ensure admissions practices comply with accreditation standards (e.g., WASC/ACEN), state board of nursing requirements, and institutional policy.
- Use CRM and call center data to forecast enrollment and inform staffing and outreach strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of progressive experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related student services function, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams or functions simultaneously (e.g., counseling staff plus a call center or operations team).
- Strong understanding of the enrollment funnel and ability to use data to drive decisions and improve conversion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to speak knowledgeably and compassionately with prospective nursing students navigating a competitive, high-stakes admissions process.
- Experience building or refining cross-departmental processes and handoffs (e.g., admissions to the advising department, admissions to the financial aid department).
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce) and call center/telephony platforms.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
Salary Expectations: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 annually
