Kevin Petti, PhD has been teaching in the departments of science and health at San Diego Miramar College since 1991. He teaches courses in human anatomy and physiology, human dissection, and health science. He is a contributing author to three anatomy and physiology texts, and is president-emeritus of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS). Dr. Petti is an innovative science educator. He employs interdisciplinary teaching strategies that connect anatomy with art, culture and history. As a dual U.S./Italian citizen, he annually leads trips to Italy visiting the very lecture halls and dissection theaters where both anatomists and Renaissance masters discovered the secrets of anatomy. Dr. Petti is often invited to lecture about his interdisciplinary and multicultural approach to science education at conferences, universities, and Italian-American groups. In the last year he has spoken at the 27th Annual HAPS Conference, University of Utah, Penn State, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles, and the Convivio Society in San Diego’s Little Italy. Dr. Petti holds a Ph.D. in science education from the University of San Diego, and a masters degree in the physiology of exercise from San Diego State University.
