John Murphy, the Director of Coaching at Pacific College of Health and Science, is a professional coach with over ten years of coaching experience in various industries, including engineering, technology, construction, healthcare, and manufacturing.  John also facilitates workshops on emotional intelligence and mindfulness.  As a lead facilitator for UC San Diego’s high ropes course, he facilitates team building programs for businesses, educational programs, and non-profit organizations.  He currently serves on the board of directors for the San Diego chapter of the International Coach Federation.

His certifications include a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) designation with the International Coach Federation, Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach through The Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence, and Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through The Co-Active Training Institute.  He has also completed training in mindfulness and self-compassion through the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion.

John’s background includes six years of experience as a structural engineer.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in civil engineering with the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.  John earned his B.S. in civil engineering from San Diego State University, where he was part of the civil engineering honor society. He worked on many public and private sector projects, including The San Diego New Downtown Central Library, Los Angeles Metro, Solar Turbines, UC San Diego, and Kaiser Permanente.
