Lynne King, DNS, MSN, MS, RN, AHN-BC, Caritas Coach ® is Dean of Nursing.
Dr. King has taught in nursing education for over 30 years with the past ten teaching in the online environment. She has been a professor in MSN, RN-to-BSN, BSN, and ASN programs. She previously held a leadership position as Director of Nursing in another AHNCC endorsed Holistic BSN program where she facilitated the co-creation of a Holistic Prelicensure BSN program. Lynne’s areas of expertise include holistic and integrative health, healthy aging, critical care nursing, Caritas Coaching®, graduate and undergraduate nursing education, curriculum development, outcomes measurement, and accreditation.
Dr. King graduated from the Caritas Coaching Education Program (CCEP®) provided by the Watson Caring Science Institute and attained certification as Caritas Coach®. Her coaching project was titled “Creating a Caring Environment in the Digital World of Learning Based on Watson’s Caring Science”. Being grounded in the Caring Sciences affords her the ability to enhance teaching and learning with Caritas. She has been a pioneer in online teaching and learning and focuses on building Caring Communities of learners where everyone is authentically present to help one another flourish on their personal, professional, and spiritual journey. She is particularly interested in supporting students and colleagues to care for self with loving kindness and compassion.
Dr. King’s research interests include pressure ulcer prevention and two qualitative studies investigating nursing faculty-to-faculty incivility. Her research has created a desire to help support the co-creation of healthy workplace environments.
In addition to higher education, Lynne’s nursing practice has been in acute care facilities; mostly in critical and emergency care with shorter stints in psychiatric and addiction nursing.
Dr. King is a member of multiple nursing organizations including AHNA, NLN, ANA, Sigma, International Association for Human Caring, and the Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI).

Lynne King resides in Maine and loves all that the state has to offer to maintain a balanced life: hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and snowshoeing. She appreciates all of the changes associated with the four seasons. She practices mindful meditation, yoga, therapeutic touch, reiki, EFT, journaling, and writing haiku.
