Topics: Day 1: The Psyche in Chinese Medicine: Treatment of Mental-Emotional Disorders Giovanni presents the Chinese medicine view of the psyche and the treatment of mental-emotional problems. You will discover the nature and clinical application of the Five Spiritual Aspects: the Hun, Po, Shen, Yi and Zhi. We will explore and challenge the traditional view of the emotions as causes of disease, particularly the Confucian influence and why that may not be applicable to Western patients. While Chinese medicine discusses the seven emotions, it doesn’t address many others: shame, guilt, jealousy, envy, frustration, resentment, indignation, pride, hurt, rejection, and humiliation, etc. Giovanni will shed light on these and their affect on our mental and physical state. He will also address the mental-emotional aspects of specific acupuncture points. Day 2: The Extraordinary Vessels
The 8 extraordinary vessels are an essential component of the channel system in acupuncture. No acupuncturist can treat without a substantial working knowledge of them. They provide a deeper level of treatment for complex conditions and are the link between the Pre-Natal and Post-Natal Qi. Far from being secondary vessels, they determine the development of the main channels from the moment of conception.
The extraordinary vessels are very effective for a wide variety of physical and mental disorders and often provide a breakthrough in the treatment of chronic and complicated conditions. The treatment of gynaecological conditions would be impossible without an understanding of the extra-ordinary vessels.
