FORMAT ACCEPTED:
Oriental Medicine requires art be be submitted in one of the following formats:
a. Electronic artwork via email or disk is the preferred format.
b. Camera-ready art: halftones should be screened at 85 line, and printed at actual size. If supplying a photograph that needs to be scanned, please see the “Production Art” section below. We recommend that you send us output from an image-setter rather than a laser printer.
c. Film negatives: film should be supplied as negatives, right reading, emulsion side down, 85 line screen. Our publication is printed in black plus a spot color. If you are supplying us with separated film for a two-color ad, please put the second color on the “cyan” plate. Please supply a laser copy of the ad with your negs.

Ad size must conform to the sizes listed on our rate sheet. Odd sizes will be billed as the next largest size on the rate sheet and floated in the ad space.

Please fax a hardcopy of the ad with a completed “Client Supplied Disk Form” when you email the ad. A “Client Supplied Disk Form” must be signed and turned in with the electronic media to ensure accuracy of your ad and to avoid any problems in the output process. If you do not follow the art submission guidelines and/or do not submit a “Client Supplied Disk Form”, Pacific College accepts no responsibility for output related problems and reserves the right to refuse to output your ad.

PRODUCTION ART:
Production artwork for minor revisions to your ad is available at an additional charge of $50-$100 (depending on size and complexity of ad). If you need us to resize a photo for you, please submit continuous tone photos only (we cannot resize from your halftone).
Please do not submit original artwork or “one and only” copies of artwork and/or photos as we will not be able to be responsible for them.

Ads supplied on disk must be accompanied by a “Client Supplied Disk Form”. Click here to download a PDF of this form, or email us your request.


FONTS:
Postscript fonts are accepted. Please provide all fonts used to produce the ad with the document. We recommend that you use “Flightcheck” or “Extensis (Preflight)” to collect all necessary fonts and support files for your ad.


MEDIA:
Only Macintosh formatted electronic media is accepted. We can accept the following: 3.5” floppy disks, Zip disks, and CDs.


DOCUMENT SPECIFICATIONS:
Quark Documents
• A black and white or color composite with the color separation plates must be included. The job cannot be processed without a printout. If you choose to use our second color, please spec your second color as “cyan”, we will convert it to the color we choose.
• We prefer ad layout be completed in Quark: Jobs designed in other layout programs are not acceptable. If you do not have Quark Xpress, you may layout your ad as an Illustrator EPS, Freehand EPS or Photoshop TIFF file. We can place it in and output it from Quark Xpress.
• Ad size must conform to the sizes listed on our rate sheet. Odd sizes will be billed as the next largest size on the rate sheet and floated in the ad space.
• Art imported into Quark must be included in the same folder as the Quark document.
• Art imported into Quark must be updated. In Quark, use the Picture Usage utility to assure that there is no art modified or missing. A “Collect For Output” is recommended.
• Trapping should be set. Pacific College will also check trapping to our specifications.
• All type 10pt. and below must be black. No type under 10pt. should be knocked out of another color (ie: white type knocked out of black or color background).
• No Quark elements are allowed outside of the image area. Use reshape polygon if necessary.


PHOTOS:
• Only black and white photographs are accepted. You may specify they be printed in our second color, but we cannot guarantee the printing quality. Please do not send color photos (CMYK, RGB etc.).
• Photos are to be provided at 300 dpi. Photos must be sized in Photoshop to be placed in the Quark documents at 100% to assure acceptable output resolution.
• Photos must be saved in TIFF or EPS format. If clipping paths are used then the file must be saved in EPS format, utilizing a flatness of 3, with Binary settings and not DOS format.


ART ELEMENTS:
• Art elements (logos, line art) must be saved in either TIFF or EPS format.
• Photoshop files must be created to size and imported into Quark at 100%. This does not apply to Illustrator EPS files.
• Job files must be complete and clean to conserve memory space and printer processing time, remove nonessential elements (ie: items outside of the page size.)
