Pacific College Student Services
Library
The goal of the Pacific College library is to serve as a resource
center to students and faculty, providing them with access to materials
that will enhance their research and clinical experience in the field
of Oriental medicine. The San Diego campus library has recently quadrupled
in size to 2,700 square feet of space which includes the collection of
books and periodicals, study and computer space, and offices for staff.
The on-site medical librarian is highly qualified to assist doctoral students
and to lead the college’s ongoing efforts to create a valued library
for the Oriental medical community. Students in the DAOM will be required
to purchase a UCSD School of Medicine library card or demonstrate equivalent
access to medical library resources.
Academic Counseling
Students often need assistance in planning their curriculum. Personnel
from the office of the Academic Dean or the Registrar are available for
personal counseling in this matter. In cases where a student is not making
satisfactory progress in a course, or in the program as a whole, counseling
is usually required with the Academic Dean or other designated personnel.
Career Planning
Counseling with the President, COO, Registrar, or Academic Dean is encouraged
whenever the student feels the need during the program.
Study Groups
The college encourages the formation of study groups for learning
purposes. Study groups are normally formed among students enrolled in
any given course. Please contact the instructor of any course in which
you feel the need for group study.
Housing
The college has no dormitory facilities or other housing options on campus
or under its control and assumes no responsibility for finding housing
for students. However, a wide range of housing is available near the Pacific
facilities. An Admissions Counselor can be of assistance by providing
information about neighborhoods, pricing, or rent location resources.
Financial Aid Counseling
Federal financial aid is not available at this time to students in the
DAOM program. Information and counseling for non-federal financial assistance
are available from the Pacific College Financial Aid Office.
Student Records
Pacific College, following the Federal Family Education Rights and Privacy
Act of 1974 and California Education Code, has set requirements to protect
the privacy of students concerning their records. The student’s
Social Security Number is used to maintain student records, as well as
for purposes of determining eligibility and disbursement of financial
aid funds and the repayment of financial aid and other debts payable to
the institution. The Registrar maintains records of each student enrolled
at Pacific College. A student’s record contains an application file,
personal information necessary for the business of the college, credit
history, transfer credit granted registration history with grade reports
and comments, and records of any official action by the college concerning
that student. The Administrative Offices and the Financial Aid Office
may also maintain files as required for their respective functions. Documents
in an applicant or student file become the property of Pacific and may
not be issued nor returned to applicants or students. No part of a student’s
file will be released to any person outside the college, its regulatory
agencies, and licensing examination agencies without the written consent
of the student/ graduate or unless mandated by court order or lawful subpoena.
The college will make available immediately, for copying or inspection
by the BPPVE or Attorney General at its principal place of business for
no less than five years, all documents required by Section 94829 of the
California Education code. Student-Graduate Directory information may
be made public and may include student name, address, email address, telephone
number, and the program in which the student was enrolled or from which
he or she graduated. It is the student’s responsibility to notify
the Registrar’s office in writing if they do not wish all or part
of this information released. Students or graduates may request a review
of their transcript, enrollment agreement, registration forms, and/or
attendance records by contacting the Registrar for an appointment. Such
a review will be allowed during normal business hours under appropriate
supervision.
