San Diego Hospice
"Hospice is an experience . . . and does not lend itself easily
to words.
Hospice is the artistry and challenge in molding Chinese medical theory
and application to the situation and circumstance that awaits in any given
room.
My service at Hospice is to help the dying and the grieving through their
transition on a journey that we all must make. Hospice provides an opportunity
for the practitioner-patient relationship to transcend into a rich human
experience, moment by moment with clarity, awareness and compassion.
My experience at hospice has reinforced my understanding of the depth
and power of acupuncture. I have used acupuncture alone to completely
eliminate phantom leg pain, repeatedly seen medications become more effective
following application of the NADA auricular protocol, and utilized this
medicine to anchor and transform families struggling with rapidly changing
circumstances. I have provided partner-acupuncture treatments to unite
the Qi and emotions of the living with the dying and help facilitate the
transition from this life. Time and time again, I have witnessed Chinese
medicine shine at Hospice, providing me with an inner confidence to share
with all.
I am fortunate to have completed two rotations at hospice and am grateful
for the experiences and skills that will help light my path. Pacific College
has created a very special and unique opportunity for students to work
in a truly integrative setting at a state-of-the-art palliative care medical
facility.
PCOM interns, step up to the challenge, the opportunity and the gift that
awaits you at San Diego Hospice. Lessons in life and living, as well as
death and dying await those courageous enough to look within themselves
and make this journey."
