AidsCare - Wellness Institute An Overview: The AIDS Care center is operated by the Convent Society of Helpers Religious Order of the Nuns and serves as a residential complex for AIDS patients. The patients at this center present a wide variety of complaints related to HIV/AIDS, especially neuropathy and kidney-related problems. At the AIDS Care center, Pacific College students have the rewarding opportunity to work with patients who are terminally ill and are often battling uncomfortable side effects of AIDS medications. Interns treat both the patients and staff in what is generally a relaxed environment, offering comfort and company when they can. Interns primarily use acupuncture as the main method of treatment, but moxabustion and cupping are also occasionally used. Students also volunteer their tui na services as space and time permit. Type of Patients: Resident patients, primarily afflicted with HIV/AIDS. The other patients treated at this facility are the facility staff consisting of the nuns and the domestic staff. This clinic is not open to the outside community. Number of Students: up to 4 which includes both assistants and observers. Types of Treatments rendered: all types of acupuncture which is primarily the main form of treatment. Depending on the patient type and their presenting complains they could also be treated with moxa, cupping e-stimulation, tui na and massage. Number of treatment rooms provided: depending on availability, generally 2.
