502 Sports Tui Na and Traumatology

The benefits of bodywork to the athlete have been recognized and the demand for massage therapists trained in the specialized techniques of sports massage is growing. This course is designed to familiarize students with the specialized Tui Na techniques useful in sports or martial arts. Preventative massage, pre- and post-event Tui Na, traditional Chinese traumatological theory, trigger points, and “hit’” medicines are discussed. The course incorporates the latest information from the Beijing Olympic Training Center brought to Pacific by the head of the Department of Allied Arts.
