International Applicants (I-20)

The New York and San Diego branches (Chicago application is pending) are authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Special application and admission procedures are required of all international students even if the applicant has received an I-20 visa from another institution. Permanent residents or refugees should use the regular application and admission procedures.

In addition to the above requirements, international applicants must submit an affidavit of financial support, dated within 6 months of their expected admission date, from his or her sponsor or bank verifying that he or she has adequate resources to pay tuition, food, lodging, books, travel, and incidental expenses for the length of the program. For the amount required, please contact a Pacific Admissions counselor.

Upon arrival at Pacific, international students must provide the Designated School Official (DSO) with a copy of the I-20 form, I-94, visa, and passport. The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service requires that all International Students maintain a full-time program of study (at Pacific, at least 12 units), attend classes regularly, and maintain satisfactory progress towards completion of the degree or diploma objective.

International students who have applied from outside the United States may be admitted each semester. However, a student is accepted only for the semester indicated on the letter of acceptance and must register for classes during that semester. If admission for a different semester is desired, the applicant must request a change of their starting date in writing. International applicants accepted for enrollment at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine must declare their intention to study at Pacific before leaving their own country and should not expect to change their visa status after arrival in the United States. The College cannot offer legal assistance to anyone attempting to change their immigration status. Once enrolled, international students must report any of the following activities to the DSO immediately: change of legal name, address, program of study, program extension, desire to travel, transfer to another institution, or disciplinary action.
