What makes Pacific College special?
• Pacific’s President and governing board members, with the
exception of its public members, are all acupuncturists committed to the
growth of the profession and the success of Pacific graduates. The College’s
commitment to its students extends beyond graduation
in the form of continuing education
and alumni services.
• Pacific’s President, Director of Academic Affairs, and Academic
Dean (San Diego) all hold graduate degrees in education. They bring expertise
in curriculum development and teacher training, making Pacific’s
curriculum and faculty one of the most effective in the
profession.
• Pacific College sponsors the world famous Pacific
Symposium. This annual four-day conference held in San Diego hosts
the best lecturers, researchers and authors in the field of Oriental medicine.
Here students have the opportunity to meet the authors of their textbooks
in person and establish a professional, collegial dialog.
• Pacific’s Master’s programs are accredited by the
Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
• Founded in 1986, Pacific is one of the oldest and largest colleges
of Oriental medicine in the U.S. Over 1,000 students attend our campuses
in San Diego, New York and Chicago.
• In addition to an on-site clinical experience, Pacific students
also have the opportunity to treat diverse populations of patients with
rotations in local hospitals and clinics. These include: San

• Pacific graduates have averaged the highest pass rates on the
National and California state exam for the last 14 years. Our alumni
have
gone on to be very successful in the field and are currently some of
the most popular teachers and practitioners in the U.S. today.
• In addition to being regularly featured in national news
media, Pacific has been awarded research grants from the National
Institutes of Health and received awards
for its curriculum and clinical
training.
What are your students like?
Our students come from throughout the U.S. and abroad. From recent undergrads
to experienced professionals, our students bring diverse educational and
cultural backgrounds to Pacific. With an average age of 27-33, about two-thirds
of Pacific’s 1,000+ students are women.
How long are your programs?
By offering day, evening, and weekend classes on a full- or part time
basis, Pacific is able to offer flexible scheduling to accommodate those
with other commitments. When attending fulltime, the Masters
program in Acupuncture & Oriental medicine requires 3,428 hours and takes 3 years and 8
months to complete. Pacific’s Doctorate of Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine requires 1,395 hours/ 70.5 credits of study
over five semesters. Programs in Asian
Body Therapy take from one semester to 2 years to complete, depending
on the program.
Where do I complete my clinical internship?
In addition to Pacific’s on-site community
clinic, the College also maintains numerous partnerships with local
hospitals and clinics in each of the cities it serves. These alliances
provide Pacific interns with the opportunities to do clinical rotations
in diverse integrative care settings. Visit our Clinical

How much is the cost of tuition?
Tuition varies for each campus due to differences in cost of living. Please
refer to the Tuition & Fees section
of this website or contact an Admissions
Counselor.
Is Financial Aid available?
Federal Financial aid is available to those in the Masters program who
qualify. Scholarships, grants, and payment plans are also available to
those in the Master's, Doctoral, and Asianl Body Therapy programs. Please

What are PCOM’s entry requirements?
For Pacific's Masters programs, students will
need at least 60 units from an accredited, degree-granting college or
university. For admittance into Pacific's Doctoral
or Body Therapy programs, or for
more information on suggested coursework and the transfer of classes,
please contact see the Admissions Entry Requirements.
When do classes begin?
We operate year-round on a semester basis, beginning the first week in
September, January and May.
I work during the day. Do you offer classes
at other times?
Yes, we offer evening and weekend classes. Please check our most current
Class Schedule for details.
When should I apply?
We suggest you begin the application process 3-6 months prior to your
preferred start date. However, under special circumstances we are able
to process applications closer to the start of each semester.
Am I able to transfer between the San
Diego, Chicago and New York campuses?
For Pacific's Master's programs, yes. This is a simple process, as all
campuses share the same curriculum.
Do you provide housing?
While Pacific does not provide student housing, it can refer you to several
affordable apartment complexes near the San Diego campus. Our staff can
provide more information on these units or refer you to resources that

Where are your campuses located?
Acceptance to Pacific allows students to study in some of the most attractive
cities in the country – beautiful San Diego, exciting New York,
or welcoming Chicago. Each of Pacific’s three campuses is convenientaly
located and accessible by both automobile and public transportation. For

How do I get started?

• Schedule a visit to take a tour of our campus, sit in on a class,
talk to students and receive a complimentary acupuncture treatment in
our community clinic.
• Take a tour of Pacific’s off-site
internship facilities.
• Mail us your completed application with a personal essay, two
letters of
recommendation, official transcript(s), proof of immunization (NY), two
photos, and $50 application fee.
