Pacific College Celebrates 20^th Anniversary As Leader In Oriental Medicine

Since its inception in 1986 the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine has been at the forefront of educating students and working in conjunction with lawmakers and medical professional to advance the standards of both the profession and the College's curriculum. Throughout the past 20 years Pacific College has received numerous awards for its curriculum and clinical training, as well as research grants from the National Institutes of Health. Today, Pacific College is recognized nationally as a leader in Oriental medicine education.

Throughout its 20 years of providing advanced training in Oriental medicine, the school has been honored with many prestigious awards. Beginning in 1990, the San Diego school was accredited by ACAOM, extending the accreditation from the San Diego campus to New York in 1993. By 2000 the school opened its doors to a new campus located in Chicago, IL. In that same year the Chicago school was approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education to offer a Master of Traditional Oriental Medicine degree. Pacific College continued to be at the forefront of the field with the San Diego campus approved to be the first school in California to be accredited for the prestigious Doctoral Program in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) in 2003.

Alongside its academic achievements, the Pacific College has also been active in print publications and trade shows. In 1988, Pacific College offered a major trade show and educational conference called The Pacific Symposium. Now in its 18th year, the Symposium has brought the finest speakers from around the world join our students and hundreds of acupuncturists for four days of learning and sharing.

In both 2001 and 2003 the school was selected as one of the "Best in the West" colleges in the United States of traditional Chinese medicine by the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) World newspaper.

Aside from being a national leader in Oriental medicine education, Pacific College strives to advance the field of Oriental medicine by conducting research, upholding high educational standards, participating in legislative action, and maintaining community involvement.
