Pacific College Acupuncture Center To Start Specialty Clinic for Persons With Disabilities

Pacific College Acupuncture Center, one of the tri-state area’s best known Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine clinics, is pleased to announce that it will start a specialty clinic for persons with disabilities in February 2006.  This specialty clinic will operate on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 5:00 pm and will be open to all persons with disabilities interested in receiving acupuncture treatments.

The World Health Organization recommends Acupuncture to treat a wide variety of conditions including: multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, joint pain, muscular pain or atrophy, hypertension, diabetes, chronic digestive conditions and neurological conditions such as numbness or neuralgia, which may affect persons with disabilities.
Since 2002, Pacific College has collaborated with the Initiative for Women with Disabilities Elly and Steve Hammerman Health and Wellness Center to provide acupuncture services to their clients on a weekly basis at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases.

“We at IWD are excited about this specialty clinic at Pacific College for people with disabilities”, said Judith Goldberg, Administrative Director of IWD.  “ Acupuncture has helped many of the clients at our program.  Due to the popularity of the program, we have a long waiting list for the acupuncture services.  Having a dedicated shift at Pacific College Acupuncture Center would allow more people with disabilities to benefit from this valuable service.”

Pacific College Acupuncture Center has been serving the tri-state area since 1992   The Center is open to the public 6 days per week. The Acupuncture Center is part of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, the largest Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine College in the nation, with campuses in New York, Chicago, and San Diego.

“We’re delighted to expand our alternative medical services by making them more accessible to all segments of our community,” said Jean Fitzgerald, Director of the Acupuncture Center.

For more information on this specialty clinic please call Pacific College at (212) 982-4600 ext 210 or visit www.PacificCollege.edu.
