Pacific
College-San Diego Appoints New Chair of Clinical Practice
Pacific College is pleased to announce the appointment
of Lynda Harvey, OMD, LAc, Dipl. Ac., PhD(c), as the new Chair of Clinical
Practice at its San Diego campus. Ms. Harvey will replace current Clinical
Chair, Bob Damone, LAc, MS (TCM) in May 2003. Mr. Damone has worked as
the Chair of Clinical practice since 2000 fine tuning the structure of
Pacific’s clinical orientation and evaluation process, and writing
the College’s Clinical Manual. Mr. Damone will continue as a professor
and clinical supervisor at Pacific College while he pursues his studies
in Chinese language at San Diego State University.
Lynda Harvey received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute
of Fine Arts in 1984, a diploma of acupuncture from Emperor’s College
of Traditional Oriental Medicine in 1987, a Doctorate of Oriental Medicine
from Samra University in 1989, is Board Certified as a Diplomat of Pain
Management with the American Academy of Pain Management since 1992 and
is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at Pacifica Graduate
Institute. Lynda has been a professor and clinical supervisor at Pacific
College since 1998 and has been working with Pacific College administration
to develop their Doctoral of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program.
Ms. Harvey has also acted as a consultant /advisor for American Academy
of Pain Management, Palm Drive Hospital Outpatient Clinic, Self-Care.Com,
The Pulse of Chinese Medicine, Mc Zand Herbal, NF Formulas, Far East Summit,
and Preisont & Associates.
As Clinic Chair, Ms. Harvey will be responsible for supervising the College’s
clinical faculty and overseeing the effective teaching and learning of
clinical students. Some of Lynda's goals for Pacific’s clinic include:
• Continuing to raise Pacific’s standards
of professionalism, through measures such as thorough charting and the
use of more objective measures of evaluating patient progress.
• Updating patient intake and treatment forms
• Requesting supervisor feedback
• Creating standardized methods of handling difficult or controversial
clinical situations
• Implementing the new HIPAA privacy policies and insuring OSHA
compliance
• Streamlining the student evaluation process and revising clinic
forms and grading system
• Making the ordering of lab tests and diagnostic imaging easier
to keep up with California’s definition of Pacific’s scope
of practice
