The Yi Jing/I Ching translates as the Classic Book of Change. Its origins go back thousands of years as a method of divination. It uses binary symbols to express patterns of the natural world. This lecture will introduce the symbols of the Yi Jing and some of their interpretations. We will explore the micro-macro cosmic relationship presented in the Yi Jing and how it reflects the human being’s relationship within natural world. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn how to do a simple consultation with the Yi Jing.

Robert Nations, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist and received his doctorate of acupuncture and Chinese medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego. His post-graduate studies focused on canonical herbal medicine. He was initially introduced to the Yi Jing in 1983 by the late healer, Warren Gold. From 1989–2002, he studied and taught at the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego, where he deepened his understanding of the Yi Jing. Dr. Nations is currently a faculty member of both Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego and San Diego Continuing Education’s older adult program. He also runs an acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic with his wife in San Diego.
