One of the most common ailments in today’s society is chronic pain, or pain that lasts longer than six months. Find out how chronic pain is treated in integrative medicine and the latest developments in understanding the patho-mechanisms of chronic pain and its treatment from eastern and western perspectives. You’ll learn from a diverse panel of medical professionals (Medical Doctors, Acupuncturists, Chiropractors and other licensed health professionals) how they are integrating diverse methodologies to relieve chronic pain resulting from injuries, arthritis, surgical procedures, fibromyalgia, autoimmune diseases, and more.
We invite you to join the Integrative Medical Discussion Group to discover unique perspectives and medical views on chronic pain and how to manage it.
Our panelists include: Michael Corradino, L.Ac., Cliff Lara, D.C., Robin Beltran, Ph.D. and biofeedback specialist
The Integrative Medical Discussion Group (IMDG) became an initiative at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in May 2006. Deb Davies, L.Ac., patterned this group after UCSD’s HI-Med (Holistic Integrative Medical) group. The concept of IMDG is to join on a regular basis, current and future doctors of both eastern and western backgrounds, who are interested in integrative health care. These enlightened discussions include good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Anyone in the community who shares this interest is also welcome and encouraged to join us.
The purpose of the IMDG are to build bridges among all types of health practitioners and to increase awareness as to how powerful the medicine can be when combined. We want to create a higher context for growth and create options to empower both the doctors and the patients. This helps establish connections among future doctors, and will also educate, raise awareness and enlighten the community on the ever-growing topic of integrative health care. The word “doctor” comes from the Latin word, “docer” which means to teach. It is very important for us to teach medical professionals & students, as well as the general public about options in health care. These practitioners can then teach their patients. Its all about empowerment.
These meetings have been bringing together the integrative health care community in San Diego for 4 years now. Each event has a different focus/topic, which brings in diverse health care workers. Before (potluck begins at 6:30PM) and after each event we encourage networking and building connections with others who can benefit from knowing you and what you and what you have to offer. Several of our graduates have met employers and medical professionals to collaborate with, build their practices together and refer to. This event is very well attended with almost 100 participants each event.
Please RSVP to me if you plan to attend.
