Graduate PLUS Loans

The federal Graduate PLUS is a loan students can take out in addition to the federal Stafford Loan.  The Graduate PLUS is a credit based, unsubsidized loan.  Unlike the Stafford loan there is no grace period on the loan though you can use deferments and/or forbearances to postpone payment.

The amount you can borrow on the Graduate PLUS is limited to the cost of attendance less other aid.  The Financial Aid Office determines your cost of attendance based on enrollment and once you have applied for the loan will certify your eligibility for what was requested.  If you later reduce your enrollment, the loan is subject to revisions and funds may be returned.

Also unlike the Stafford loan fees cannot be paid on your behalf and you can be charged up to 3% origination and default fee that is taken off the top of the loan.  Below are the links to the Graduate PLUS for the lenders we most frequently use.  Most major lenders offer Graduate PLUS and you have the option of selecting the lender of your choice.  If you do apply for the Graduate PLUS loan, please notify the Financial Aid Office.  We are not always notified by the lender.
