San Diego Campus Library

The College’s three campus libraries (Chicago, New York and San Diego) have a cumulative collection of over 47,000 titles of print and over 140,000 non-print materials in multiple formats. San Diego's 2,500 square foot library is a modern facility for study, research, and computer resources. The library supports the educational, clinical, and research programs for students, faculty, and alumni. The libraries may be open to interested health professionals, patients, researchers and alumni by special arrangement.

Holdings

The library has a priceless collection of books, journals, research papers, media, and anatomical models. In addition, the library's webpage includes E-resources of Online Journals, E-Books and Databases. The scope of the collection includes Traditional Oriental and Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Herbology, Basic and Biological Sciences, Complementary Medicine, Massage Therapy, Consumer Health, Chinese Medical Classics, the Pacific Symposium lectures and special collections in Chinese including Dr. Richard Yeh’s private medical classics, and some Japanese and Korean materials. In addition to the E-Resources, the San Diego Print Collections include over 25,000 books, journals (60 current titles), a non-print collection containing over 4,500 items of educational software i.e. CDs, DVDs, videos, and audiotapes. Doctoral Capstone dissertations are available for reference use in the library. Computers, Health Information Instruction and Tutorials

The computer media lab has 11 workstations including PCs, Macs, a VCR, DVD player, and copier/printer for use in the library. Computer use is on a first-come first-served basis. A librarian, assistant, or student assistant is always available during regular library hours to help students with questions. Health Information Literacy classroom instruction is provided for several masters, doctoral and clinical classes. Online Library Catalog

The San Diego campus’s online catalog enables users to look-up books, journals, videos, media, and reference papers from on and off-campus.  In addition, circulation-borrowing records including borrowers, checkout, and returns are also a part of this system. Click for the Online Library Catalog.

E-mail Services

Pacific College provides its students with free e-mail accounts and service. To obtain your password, complete an application in the college’s Information Technology Office.

Borrowing Privileges

A PCOM student ID is required to check out library materials. Books may be borrowed for two weeks, media for one week. Materials may be renewed once, at the front desk, or by calling. Return materials to the front desk or place in the library’s book Return box. Overdue Materials: Fines for Books: 0.25 per day, Audio & videotapes: 0.50 per day * Lost Items, Replacement Fees are $15.00 plus the cost of replacing the item.

Special hours for holidays are posted. The library is closed for semester breaks. Hours subject to change.
