Pacific College Alumni Profile - Pamela Nathan:
Pamela Nathan was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where she obtained
her B.A. in Psychology from Witwatersrand University. She earned a graduate
degree in teaching and counseling and settled into the life of mother
and homemaker.
While raising three children, all of whom suffered from serious allergies
and severe life threatening asthma, she desperately branched out of mainstream
medical practices into realms of alternative medicine. This led to post-graduate
work at Lindlahr College of Natural Therapeutics, South Africa, where
she earned a degree in homeopathic medicine.
Pamela immigrated to California in 1979 and practiced homeopathy at the
newly formed California Clinic of Preventive Medicine. She was then recruited
by California Acupuncture College, the predecessor to PCOM, to teach Homeopathy
and continued to do so at PCOM once their new campus emerged. As a result
of exposure to Oriental Medicine provided by the school as well as a personal
‘life’ experience of how acupuncture was successful in completely
aborting her young daughter’s appendicitis attack, she became a
firm believer in Oriental medicne and re-entered the school as a student
instead of a teacher to gain certification as a Licensed Acupuncturist
in 1986.
At this time Pamela co-founded Ecology Medical Clinic with allergist Dr.
Ivor Emanuel M.D., where she was both administrator and practitioner.
She subsequently founded her own center, Ecology Health Center, in 1992
and was able to further explore various techniques, practices and products,
that enhance health and well being. In 1996 and 1997 she co-authored research
studies on the effectiveness of her behavior modification program which
was presented at annual reproductive medicine meetings. The studies documented
a dramatic 42% and 43% reduction in subjective stress level scores.
Pamela's unique approach to complementary health care combines both Western
and Eastern philosophies using techniques that promote long term benefits.
Through treatment, education, and behavior modification, participants
in her programs see remarkable improvements in their sense of well being.
Pamela’s specialty is helping people with digestive disorders. She
can be found online at her websites www.crohns.net
and www.stresshelpcenter.com
Congratulations, Pamela, on your success!
