Pacific College Alumni Profile - Anthony Burris:
Anthony Burris treats NFL players, international Olympians, distance runners and NCAA athletes in various sports and events. His effective style of sports acupuncture has made him a sought-after practitioner and guest speaker. His speaking engagements include the UCSD School of Medicine.
Tony's style can be described as a synthesis of classical Chinese and modern target-tissue acupuncture. Combined with therapeutic stretch and soft tissue release, patients receive well-rounded and effective treatment in healing and rehabilitating acute and chronic injury.
Tony is also a recognized "Tao Shih" from the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego. Tao Shih translates to "one learned in Tao" and reflects Tony's commitment in his study of Eastern philosophy and traditions. Patients benefit from the sense of serenity and calm Tony brings to his patients and the treatment room. He also teaches seminars and is working on a meditation CD.
Tony attended Bowling Green State University where he graduated cum laude as an undergraduate. He received his Master's in Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. He has provided acupuncture at the RIMAC Sports Center of UCSD and the UCSD Free Clinic-Downtown, which provides no-cost treatment to geriatrics and the homeless.
