Pacific College Alumni Profile - Anna K. Navida Dolopo

Anna Navida Dolopo graduated from Pacific College, San Diego in 1998.
She runs a thriving practice in beautiful Laguna Hills, a lovely city in South Orange County, California. Anna practices general medicine with an emphasis on helping patients graduate from their pain.  Anna is a dedicated student of Dr. Tan’s Balance Method.

Anna expands her knowledge of Chinese medicine by reviewing the basics, researching modern medical texts and putting herself in diverse medical clinics/volunteer opportunities to expose herself to as many patients as possible. To help demystify Chinese medicine to lay people, she does her part by educating patients as to why their health improves with consistent treatments and herbal therapy.

As an undergraduate, Anna observed Chinese medicine at work in many San Francisco communities. Initially skeptical of anything other than mainstream medicine, she became "obsessed" with trying to understand why people believed in acupuncture and Chinese herbs. She eventually found herself at PCOM, from where she proudly graduated in 1998.

Anna counts her clinical experience at Harvest for the Hungry, working with medical students at UCSD and her work at Samahan Community Medical Clinics among her most beneficial experiences through Pacific College.  Anna went on to become the first licensed acupuncturist at both the Samahan Community Medical Clinics in Mira Mesa and National City.

"The externships helped me to connect with people who would further my career in the early stages of my professional life," said Anna. "I appreciate the teachers and supervisors who challenged me to think beyond what I could see with the eyes of a student. Their honesty in the potency and limitations of Chinese medicine, whether acupuncture or herbs, keeps me humble and helps me to strive to be a better practitioner with every treatment."

"There is nothing more important for me to do than to be a healer using my skills attained at PCOM," said Anna. "Knowing that I awake every morning with the thought of using Chinese medicine to improve the health of others is my success."
