Pacific College Alumni Profile - Allen A. Stovall:
Allen is now a Licensed Acupuncturist in California and board certified in Acupuncture, Chinese herbology and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In addition to his private practice in San Diego , Allen is president and founder of Harmony Healthcare ® and HarmonyHealthLink.com, a leading education portal for alternative medicine. He is also a certified practitioner and teacher of Classical Five Element acupuncture and holds a Ph.D. in psychology. Allen authored the books The Curious Points: Extra Points in Acupuncture and Acupressure , Cosmetic Acupuncture and Psychology, Zen in the Art of Acupuncture and Living the Eight-Fold Path. Allen holds to the teachings of the Huang Di Nei Jing and the Ling Shu , which states: "Acupuncture, first and foremost, is based upon the spirit." He also feels he is committed to professional excellence and the teachings of the Medicine Buddha. "Acupuncture is a therapy, but it is also an energy medicine unlike any other," said Allen. "There is a synergy of the life-force or qi between the patient and practitioner. It changes lives and makes others whole again." Allen A. Stovall L.Ac., a 2003 graduate of Pacific College , San Diego , was drawn to Oriental medicine during his 16 year career with the San Diego Police Department. Training in martial arts and participating in the Police Olympics, Allen often sustained minor injuries that were treated with Acupuncture. Eventually, it was a class he took at PCOM with Alex Tiberi that helped him realize a new way to be of service after leaving the SDPD.
