Pacific College Alumni Profile - Alfred Russo:
Currently, Alfred works in an integrative practice that has offices in Conway and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Alfred's emphasis is on physical medicine, with a small percentage of internal medicine utilizing Chinese herbal medicine, Western nutrition, Standard Process and detoxification programs. He is taking his first trip to China in mid-March this year, where he will study at Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine for one month. The focus of his studies will be acupuncture and writing herbal prescriptions. He feels his experience at PCOM was first-rate because of the broad spectrum of TCM introduced to students. "We can spend a lifetime digging into it and we get to pick and choose what aspects of TCM we are interested in," Alfred said. "But we were also educated in acupuncture, Tui Na, Shiatsu, Western science and many other sub categories of each method." His most memorable experience was clinical rotation at San Diego Hospice. "It was my first exposure to an Integrative approach to medicine," he said. "All of the doctors and nurses took us in as another allied health care provider." Alfred encourages other aspiring healers to pursue their interest in this field. "TCM is one of the most well respected forms of natural medicine," he said. "There are so many directions one can go into after graduating. It all depends on your interests and ambition." Alfred currently resides in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Congratulations, Alfred, on your success!
