Pacific College Alumni Profile - Jeannie Bianchi
Jeannie Bianchi works at Schizandra Health Center in San Francisco,
CA. Her focus is general medicine, but she treats a high volume of women's health issues and digestive
complaints. At Schizandra, she uses a mix of Japanese acupuncture and traditional Chinese approaches.
Additionally, she is lead practitioner at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, where she guides customers in
making choices about herbs, supplements, and natural health care. Through Pharmaca, her knowledge base
has expanded to include Western herbs and nutritional therapy.
Jeannie believes education is a big piece of helping people use natural medicines and gives lectures
both at Pharmaca and in the community on Chinese medicine's application to specific conditions. She
also volunteers at a non-profit clinic for low-income women with cancer, called Charlotte Maxwell
Complementary Clinic.
"I explored mind-body medicines and systems both as a journalist for a natural health publication
and as a personal interest," said Jeannie. "Through this work, I realized that the Chinese had
developed one of the most thorough and empirically researched natural health systems in human
history. I was drawn to this depth of knowledge."
In her spare time, Jeannie loves salsa dancing, foreign languages, singing, being in nature,
and movies. She is currently learning more about supportive cancer care.
