Agenda Items:
1) Reviewing our goals?
Difficult Case Forum Update: Arlene Kiefer reviewed the past year's
Case Forums and reported that there was low turnout but the Supervisors
that facilitated and the information that was shared were excellent.
There was discussion
regarding the possibility of offering this three or four times
a year instead of every month. Also Alumni suggested trying it
during the week instead of on Sunday.
Mark Taylor has agreed
to record the cases and transcribe them for the website so that
Alumni not present or living in San Diego can access the information
through the Internet..
There was also the suggestion
of having a flat $25.00 annual fee that would cover attendance
at all Forums instead of the $10.00 per Forum fee.
2) Focus on Alumni:
Michael Wayne presented his current research on Quantum Medicine. He is currently
working on his Ph.D. in Energy Medicine at Greenwich University and shared
how quantum medicine can be integrated with acupuncture. Michael was a
graduate of the San Diego campus, practices in upstate New York and can
be reached at: acuwayne@hotmail.com
3) Update on College:
Stacy Gomes updated Alumni on the regarding the Chicago campus. They are currently
offering classes at the OM4 level and students are beginning to enter the
Clinic.
The Doctorate is being
held up by ACAOM based on lack of administrative support to focus
on the Doctorate at this time. We expect to hear more after the
National meeting on November 7th.
The New York Campus
was instrumental in initiating and running the acupuncture and
massage relief efforts on September 11th, at the Javitz center.
All of our faculty, staff and students are safe but were emotionally
effected by the events.
4) San Diego Student
Council Alumni Outreach:
San Diego Student Council President, Laura Senecal and Treasurer, Alison Schaefer,
discussed their interest in having Student council support the Alumni Association
by working with the database and checking addresses and phone numbers.
They also invited Alumni
to participate in the Winter Social:
November 17th
7:00 - 1:00
Red Lion Hanalei Hotel
Mission Valley 2270 Hotel Circle.
This event is being
co-sponsored by the UCSD Holistic & Integrative Medicine
Student Group and funds raised from ticket sales will go to the
9/11 Fund. Tickets are $7.00.
5) CEU Events:
Stacy Gomes discussed the lack of professional support for additional CEU events
beyond the Symposium here in San Diego. Louise Bates suggested a CEU event
