Our program ties together massage therapy with Oriental medicine theory, giving you the tools to best serve your future clients’ needs with a unique blend of East and West. 

The purpose of the bachelor’s program is to provide those with a related prerequisite Associates degree advanced training and application in Oriental medicine theory and massage practice. Coursework lays a foundation in biomedicine with extended training in a variety of Asian bodywork therapies. Students are prepared for employment in the fields of Asian holistic health and massage, either in private practice, or in a variety of healthcare or spa settings.

The Bachelor of Science (Asian Holistic Health & Massage) is a 64.5 unit degree completion program that meets the requirements for national massage certification by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

This degree enables graduates to:

• Market themselves as competent and informed employees to companies in the growing field of Asian holistic health and massage.
• Support the community with the knowledge and skills that encourage health through natural means.
• Explore best practices of public and holistic health.
• Be capable of advancing the work of disease prevention and health promotion based on recognized Asian and holistic health theories.

As students will take courses in body therapy and massage to qualify for licensure and employment in the profession of massage, graduates will also:

• Demonstrate ethical behavior in their personal and professional lives.
• Demonstrate a wide and well-practiced variety of body therapy skills.
• Understand the integration of body, mind, and spirit.
• Know and demonstrate essential, hygienic considerations in the performance of massage.
• Know and respect conditions contraindicating massage.
• Demonstrate competence in basic business skills related to the practice of massage.
