How to Apply for Financial Aid - Continuing Students

| PDF Print

Stafford Loans are processed every two semesters. It's important for you to keep record of your financial aid award and be aware of when the next semester application is due. The FA Office will do our best to notify you when it is time to apply, but do not depend on us alone. Check with our office if you are unsure of when to apply.

For students who had a Fall 2012/Winter 2013 loan, it is time to re-apply for the Spring 2013/Fall 2014 (May through December) loan. To do this you need to:

  • Complete a 2012-2013 FAFSA and a 2013-2014 FAFSA* at www.fafsa.ed.gov

  • Print complete and submit the Spring 2013/Fall 2013 Financial Aid Certification Form

    * If you (or your parents) will be filing a 2012 income tax return with the IRS, it is recommended that you complete it before filling out the 2013-2014 FAFSA. The easiest way to complete or correct your FAFSA with accurate tax information is by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool through www.fafsa.gov. Please note that it takes up to two weeks for IRS income information to be available for electronic IRS tax return filers, and up to eight weeks for paper IRS tax return filers.

*Fall 2013 financial aid will NOT be awarded until we have received your 2013-2014 FAFSA. This includes Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant and Federal Work-Study. We must have a 2013-14 FAFSA on file to award these funds for Fall 2013.

  • Please complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note if you did not already do so during the previous application period - (www.studentloans.gov)
