Tutorials for Database Searching:
The Library's Health Information Literacy instructional series includes a Web based self study program of brief tutorials, and class presentations or hands-on session conducted each semester for clinical research and advanced courses in the curriculum. They are designed to help students develop information access skills and to write research papers.

2. Library Online Catalog: PCOM Tutorial
   This tutorial provides instructions to search the catalog via the Internet or the Library.
   New students are required to view a brief 3 min. tour in the Library, and are given "How to Use the Library and the Online Catalog" guide at Orientation.

     This 8 minute tour includes sequential screens of search features in MedlinePlus

     This tutorial was designed by the National Library of Medicine to meet the needs of the general public.

     Includes several specific tutorials and My NCBI
     
     
   • Evaluating Internet Health Information: A Tutorial from the National Library of Medicine
     This tutorial teaches you how to evaluate the health information that you find on the Web. It is about 16 minutes long. The tutorial runs automatically, but you can also use the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen to go forward, backward, pause, or start over.
     
     
   • Understanding Medical Words: Tutorial
     A brief Health Literacy medical terminology tutorial to help patients and students understand commonly used terms and improve clinical communication. You learn how to put together parts of medical words. Also includes quizzes.
