Information:
Robert is a licensed acupuncturist with a family medicine practice in San Diego, a staff acupuncturist at Sharp Coronado Hospital and contracts with UC San Diego’s Center for Integrative Medicine. He has a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and has been on the facility there since 1997. He has also earned the “Diplomate Oriental Medicine,” from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Robert has been involved with contemporary holistic healing and ancient healing traditions for nearly 30 years. In the early ‘80s he studied with a herbalist/ indigenous healer for five years, which spurred his interest in complementary medicine. Early in his career, he earned certifications at the Mueller College of Holistic Studies and at the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego. He has also studied the Yin Fu Bagua system in Beijing, China, and music and dance in Senegal, Africa. Robert is also known in San Diego as a teacher and speaker regarding East Asian healing and medicine. He taught at the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego for more than a decade and he has been teaching as a community service at the YMCA since 1995. He recently taught in the evidence-based Tai Chi for Better Balance Program, sponsored by the California Department of Public Health in conjunction with the federal Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Aging and Independence Service of San Diego.
